Fourteen Years

Ever since I was born they were in my life
From my first step
To my first day of school
They watched me grow up
and they watched me succeed
they watched me fail
Fourteen years of my life we shared
and just like that they walked away
They tried to be in my life
But those next two years were
Tougher than we could imagine
Fourteen years of my life faded
So don't ever think for a second
That the insignificant time
We have spent together
Will ever come close to those
Fourteen years
